Ajna Chakra

Ajna (command) is the sixth chakra, indigo colored ball of light in between the eye brows. This chakra is related to a deeper insight, intuition visualization and imagination.
When this chakra is in harmony we have a good intuition, can identify fears and attachments to usual patterns of behavior from the inner voice of our true nature, we have lucid dreams and are sensitive to the signs we receive in a daily life. In order to develop this chakra, a constant process of self-inquiry should become part of our being. For that, we first need to become aware of our emotional, mental and energetic patterns which we have developed throughout our life. Why do we make certain decisions, why we feel certain emotions, have expectations, fears, limiting beliefs, attachments, do not want to move out of comfort zone and finally, choose to be with people who do not serve us good or drain our energy. It was very nice to read just recently a message from David Lurey, saying that he has expectations regarding response to what he does (he just released his kirtan CD as well he teaches workshops and retreats all over the world). So he was asking himself about what lies at the root of his offering, why he makes music and teaches yoga? I found it beautiful that he shared this with others, very inspiring teaching!
From my side, during my last India visit I have realized that my tendency is to do everything the "right" way. I am very good in reading and learning about the right ways, be it perfect yogi, Buddhist, a perfect daughter or friend way. I tend to do everything the right way, according to the script or very close to it. And when I fail to perform in the best way, or when there is someone "better", I feel as a failure and start self-punishment. It makes me happy to recognize the pattern and be able to take the next step, initiate self-inquiry. Why do I need to be better, why cannot I find my own way? Why do I need to be perfect? The most important thing here is not to start thinking about the action plan on how to change this. Just ask yourself, let the emotion be released and observe, observe, observe...Change should come by itself, no modifications or manipulations are required, it is about being, not doing. It is about inwardly seeing, not outwardly looking.
So when this energetic centre is under-active we tend to be not thinking for ourselves by relying on authorities and trusting the TV, we have beliefs and dogmas (perfect yogi should not...) and are easy to be influenced by others. Sadly, above mentioned qualities are so common today, and we really need to wake up at last!
When the third chakra is over-active, we live in the world of fantasy, have hallucinations and are not connected to reality. Often such people are "spiritual" and esoteric, and even can declare their own enlightenment. And sometimes they may have a herd of followers of under-active Ajna folks, who solely believe in their enlightenment and super powers.
On the physical level Ajna is related to the pineal gland, which is located in the middle if the brain at the eye brow level. This tiny gland (the size of pine tree seed, for that reason pineal) is responsible for production of melanin (sleep hormone) and DMT (chemical that is being released when we die). Since in Ajna we get first glimpses of enlightenment, this gland and energy centre are of crucial importance to attaining Samadhi. Nowadays this glad is very easy to be seen on X-ray pictures, due to its calcification or hardening. This happens thanks to the tooth rescuer called fluoride. Research proved it to be the cause of pineal gland calcifying, which in turn prevents people from reaching enlightenment and thinking for themselves. For that reason many years I thoroughly check the contents of my tooth pastes and also avoid some hot springs that have fluoride in the water. Most health food stores have fluoride-free tooth pastes and I strongly recommend everyone to switch to them :)
May all beings attain the omniscient state of enlightenment, and conquer the enemy of faults and delusion.
May they all be liberated from the ocean of samsara, and from its pounding waves of birth, old age, sickness and death.
